Petržalka is caught up in the Christmas spirit, just like every year. The Christmas market in the Námestie Republiky square and the accompanying cultural events and performances taking place across Petržalka are all just a short distance from Nesto. You can also go ice skating and cold-water swimming, and do your Christmas shopping in Petržalka during this festive season. Next year, the new square in Nesto will be the perfect venue to enjoy the Christmas spirit.

An extensive programme of festive events and charity activities is being held for Petržalka residents and visitors to enjoy up until Christmas. But Petržalka has much more to offer, such as winter sports, entertainment, and shopping.  

Traditional Christmas markets: 

• The Christmas market at the Winter Tyršák on the Petržalka side of the Starý most bridge is now open offering a wide range of delicious Christmas food and hot drinks to keep you warm. 
• The Christmas market in the Námestie Republiky square is open from 11:00 to 21:00 on weekdays, and from 9:00 on weekends. The market is part of the Christmas Petržalka 2023 themed event and will include numerous cultural performances, and will run until Wednesday 20 December. For more information, see here.

Christmas shopping:

You can do all of your Christmas shopping, including presents and food, in Petržalka. Just pop into the Aupark, OC Galéria or Danubia shopping centres or any of the many smaller local shops and stores. 

Winter sports: 

– Cold water swimming in Veľký Draždiak.

– If you want to swim and relax during the Christmas season, try the Petržalka indoor swimming pool and wellness centre.

– Ice Arena Petržalka offers skating hours for the public.

– And if the weather gets really cold, you can go ice skating outdoors on Chorávstke rameno.

– You can also visit the popular Pixxla Sauna at Veľký Draždiak and cool off in the cold waters of the lake. 

Fun for families: 

Families with children will enjoy the Christmas atmosphere at the Petržalka racecourse, where a unique light park, the first of its kind in Slovakia, has found a home this festive season. The light park has more than 45 light installations with more than 400,000 LED lights for visitors to enjoy. The “Lights Tell…” exhibition, spreading the “fight the darkness with light” message, is open to the public every day from 16:00 to 21:00 until the end of January 2024. An outdoor skating rink is also available to the public on the premises. 

First Christmas in Nesto next year

The first Nesto residents will move into their new homes on the Na námestí square in the summer of 2024 after the project receives final approval. We are now building the extensive southern square in Nesto, which will be an ideal place for gatherings during Christmas and a perfect venue for intimate Christmas events in the future, adding to the magical and festive atmosphere of the most wonderful time of the year. 

What’s more, Nesto is just a short hop from everyone’s favourite Christmas market in the Bratislava Old Town. The city centre is only six minutes away by car. Thanks to Nesto’s excellent connection to the motorway network, you can also travel easily to the neighbouring European capitals to experience the Christmas magic of Vienna, Budapest or Prague.

Petržalka is continuously growing and evolving, thanks also to Nesto and it lives and breathes Christmas every year. 

The magic of the most wonderful holiday of the year will spread across our new neighbourhood next year, when the first Nesto residents will celebrate Christmas in their new homes. We are already looking forward to it.
