Construction of the Nesto project is progressing on schedule. The potential of the location between Petržalka and neighbouring Austria is now being realised. Just a stone’s throw from the centre of Bratislava, we are building high-quality flats with extensive amenities and job opportunities and reviving history. Let’s take a look at what we achieved this year and what we have planned for Nesto in the year ahead.

What did we achieve in 2023?

• We modernised the connection between Kopčianska and Bratská streets to make commuting to Nesto even faster. Nesto is now connected by a modern road for future residents of the new district and visitors to the military bunkers and the nearby cemetery.
• There is something for everyone on the Nesto site – those interested in housing as well as schools, students and history lovers. In collaboration with EDULAB, a non-profit organisation dedicated to innovative education, we have created an opportunity to learn about the local history on the Nesto site. An interactive whiteboard has been installed, allowing teachers and parents to give  interactive history lessons with their children. We will continue to develop educational activities at Nesto in the future.
• We have also developed an augmented reality game called Mysterio, which you can download to your mobile device for free. It is a fun way for you and your children to learn about the historical area of Nesto.
• We’ve revitalised the forest park near the military monuments. This area has covered picnic areas, benches, loungers and two designated BBQ spots, as well as waste separation bins. The forest park enhances Nesto’s surroundings and is a welcoming place for walkers and cyclists looking for a picnic spot, or a place to relax, and also for educational field trips.

You can now experience the atmosphere of Nesto by watching a video that introduces the vision for this neighbourhood. The virtual walk starts at the entrance to Nesto, near the bus stop (bus 80), where cyclists can also enjoy our new two-lane cycle path on Kopčianska Street. The tour continues through the square towards the inner blocks, where you can see the spacious terraces and beautiful views. Watch the video here.

What’s in store in 2024?

• The first 180 flats in the “On the Square” zone will be completed during 2024, and the new owners will move here in the summer. 
• We are finalising the unique concept of the southern square above Sector C. This will connect public spaces with residential areas for residents and visitors.
• We are creating a temporary park for Nesto residents, where natural materials will dominate.
• We have begun construction of two interconnected residential blocks (Nesto A), with a total of 314 rental units of various sizes. This is a unique project in Slovakia, which we have already tested in Trnava, and it has proven to be very successful abroad.
• Nesto will continue to grow in 2024. We look forward to seeing the residents moving in next year.
